Understanding Treatment Quotes
and Aftercare Packages

Treatment Guide·5 min read

Getting a quote is one step; actually understanding what it covers, and doesn’t, is a separate skill worth having before you agree to anything.

What should I check when reading a treatment quote from a Korean clinic? Look beyond the total figure to what’s itemized: which specific sessions or products are included, whether follow-up visits are covered, and what aftercare package, if any, comes with the price. A quote that only shows one bundled number is harder to compare or verify than an itemized one.

01

Why the Total Number
Isn’t the Whole Story

Two quotes with the same total can cover very different scopes: one might include a full course of sessions and follow-up visits, while another covers only a single session with everything else priced separately later. Comparing totals without checking what’s actually included can lead to a misleading sense of which option is better value, which is part of why our clinic selection guide treats pricing transparency as a core evaluation criterion. For how a price inquiry itself works before you even get to this stage, see the price inquiry section of our services overview.

What to Check
Beyond the Total

A few specific checks reveal whether a quote is actually comparable to others you’ve received.

What to CheckWhy It Matters
Number of sessions includedA per-session price and a full-course price aren’t directly comparable
Whether follow-up visits are coveredSome quotes include follow-up, others charge separately
What products or specific formulations are usedPricing can vary significantly by product even for the same general treatment
What the aftercare package actually includesRanges from a basic instruction sheet to ongoing check-ins

When a Quote
Needs Follow-Up Questions

If a quote doesn’t clearly state what’s included, that’s worth asking about directly rather than assuming the most generous interpretation. A clinic confident in its pricing should be able to itemize it clearly on request, and hesitation to do so is worth treating as a signal.

For what actually drives Rejuran pricing specifically, see our Rejuran cost guide, and for the questions worth asking during consultation more broadly, our consultation questions guide covers that.

04

What Sits Outside
the Quoted Number

A quote describes a transaction. A trip has costs the transaction does not include, and two of them are worth settling before you treat a figure as final.

The first is tax. In Korea, cosmetic procedures that national health insurance does not cover are subject to 10% VAT, and that list includes skin treatments such as skin regeneration, whitening, anti-ageing and acne procedures. Until the end of 2025, foreign visitors could claim that VAT back at the airport. The refund scheme ended on 31 December 2025 and, as of September 2026, had not been reinstated, so older guides and some clinic pages that promise a refund are out of date. The practical question is simpler now: does the quoted figure include VAT, or will 10% be added at the till? Ask before paying, not after.

The second is what happens if the aftercare in the quote and the aftercare you receive diverge. The same centre handles consultation on complaints about the use of Korean medical institutions and refers disputes to the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency. Its desks at Seoul Station and Incheon Airport are staffed in English (details in our guide to what to expect at a Korean clinic). That route also runs on paperwork, which is the practical argument for insisting that the aftercare component of a package be written out: how many follow-up visits, over what period, and what becomes of them if you fly home early.

Neither point decides whether a quote is good value. Both decide whether the number in front of you is the number you will actually live with.

A third item sits outside the clinic’s number altogether: whoever introduced you to the clinic. Korean law requires agencies that recruit foreign patients to register, and the register can be searched in Korean at medicalkorea.or.kr/korp. Registration still says nothing about how an agency is paid. Whether a coordination fee is billed to you separately, folded into the treatment price, or paid by the clinic out of its own margin is a fair thing to ask plainly, and the answer is easier to get before a quote is issued than after.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Is it normal for aftercare to cost extra beyond the treatment itself?
This varies by clinic; some bundle basic aftercare into the treatment price, while others charge separately for more extensive support, so it’s worth confirming directly.
What does a typical aftercare package include?
This ranges widely, from a simple written instruction sheet to scheduled check-ins or products included for home care; ask specifically what’s covered.
Should I be suspicious of a quote that’s much lower than others?
Not automatically, but it’s worth checking whether it covers the same scope as higher quotes, since a lower number sometimes reflects fewer included sessions or services.
Can I negotiate a quote once I’ve received it?
This varies by clinic and isn’t guaranteed, though asking about package options or bundled pricing is a reasonable question.
What if I don’t understand a line item on my quote?
Ask directly for clarification; a clinic should be able to explain any specific charge on request.
