Rejuran for the Under-Eye Area:
What’s Actually Different About This Region

Treatment Guide·5 min read

Under-eye concerns get lumped together as one problem, when texture, hollowing, and pigmentation actually call for different approaches entirely.

Can Rejuran help with dark circles or under-eye texture? Rejuran may help under-eye skin texture and mild crepiness. Small studies of polynucleotide injections around the eye report improvement, and the proposed mechanism is support for the skin’s own repair, including collagen production. It doesn’t address hollowing from volume loss, pigmentation, or visible blood vessels, which need different treatments entirely. Matching the concern to the right treatment matters more here than almost anywhere else on the face.

Why the Under-Eye Area
Gets Treated Differently

Skin under the eyes is thinner and more delicate than most of the face, sitting close to blood vessels and structures that make aggressive treatment riskier here than elsewhere. This is part of why practitioners use more conservative technique and smaller volumes in this area, and why not every treatment suited to the cheeks or jawline transfers safely to this region. For the general mechanism involved, see our Rejuran mechanism guide.

Matching the Concern
to the Right Approach

Under-eye concerns aren’t interchangeable, even though they often get discussed as one problem.

Good Fit If You…What Happens
Have crepey texture or fine lines under the eyesRejuran can support gradual improvement in skin quality here
Have visible hollowing or a sunken appearanceThis is a volume concern usually addressed with filler rather than Rejuran alone. Under-eye filler carries its own risks, including rare but serious blockage of a blood vessel, so ask who injects it and how they would handle that
Have dark circles from visible blood vessels or pigmentThis needs a pigment- or vascular-focused approach, not a regenerative treatment
Have very thin, fragile under-eye skin with bruising historyA practitioner should assess this carefully before recommending injectable treatment here

What a Plan for
This Area Typically Involves

Sessions in this area typically use smaller volumes and more careful technique than elsewhere on the face, and mild swelling shows more because the skin is thin. On what the published evidence looks like: a 2026 study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology followed 42 patients treated around the eye area with a purified polynucleotide injectable (not Rejuran specifically, but the same class of product). Most had two sessions three weeks apart, and improvement in lower-eyelid and crow’s-feet scores was statistically significant at every follow-up across six months, peaking at three months. Reported side effects were mild swelling and discomfort at two days, with occasional minor bruising and no delayed complications. That is one small study rather than a guarantee, and a provider’s assessment of your own eye area counts for more than any published average.

Our Rejuran Healer overview covers the treatment generally, and our side effects guide covers what to expect during recovery in more detail.

04

How Much of This
Has Actually Been Studied

The under-eye area attracts confident claims, so it is worth being precise about how much evidence sits behind them.

The periorbital study cited below is a prospective observational case series: 42 patients, no control group, followed with patient-reported questionnaires at one, three and six months. Its authors describe the findings as supporting further controlled studies to confirm efficacy and refine treatment protocols. That is a careful way of saying the work is a starting point rather than a settled result.

Zooming out gives the same picture. A 2025 systematic review searched Embase, Medline and Cochrane for studies on polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine published between 2010 and 2024 and found nine that qualified, covering 219 patients in total. It graded them low to moderate quality and noted that injection sites and techniques varied considerably between them. Its conclusion was that the approach shows promise but that consensus on optimal use is limited.

Repeat treatment around the eye has one longer look behind it. A 2026 retrospective review of routine clinical records followed 23 women treated between January 2024 and March 2026. They started on three periocular sessions four weeks apart, and about two thirds went on to further sessions. Across 91 sessions the authors logged two mild events that settled on their own, and nothing delayed. That is reassuring about repetition, within the usual limits: a small group, no comparison arm, and a look back at records rather than a planned trial.

For an area as specific and technically awkward as the under-eye, that matters more than it would elsewhere. Where the general protocol is unsettled, adapting it to thin skin over a mobile area is necessarily the practitioner’s judgement rather than a published standard. That is an argument for asking how often they treat this area in particular, rather than how long they have been doing injectables in general.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Is the under-eye area more painful to treat than other areas?
Sensitivity varies by individual, but the thinner skin here can make sensation more noticeable; topical numbing is commonly used to keep this comfortable.
Can Rejuran fix under-eye hollowing on its own?
Not effectively on its own; hollowing is a volume concern that typically needs a filler-based approach, though Rejuran may be combined with it for skin quality.
How long until I see a difference in under-eye texture?
In the periorbital study cited here, scores had already improved at the first check, one month after treatment, and were highest at three months. Your own timeline may differ, and change builds over the course rather than appearing after one session.
Is bruising more common in this area?
The under-eye area can bruise slightly more easily given thinner skin and proximity to blood vessels. Bruises are usually minor, but one can take up to about a week to fade, so leave that margin before photos or events.
Should I see a specialist specifically for under-eye treatment?
A practitioner experienced with this specific area is worth seeking out, since technique matters more here than in less delicate regions of the face.
